Fly- Crete has 2 airports: Hania (airport code CHQ) which is the closest airport to Arete, only 40 minutes drive away and Heraklion (airport code HER) which, at approximately 160 kms, is a 2 to 3 hour drive away. Direct charter flights operate from April to the end of October, please see the links for further information. Scheduled flights arrive every day all through the year at Athens. You can then either fly direct from Athens to Hania or catch the ferry. EasyJet and Thomas Cook will be starting a new direct service to Heraklion in March 2008 and Jet2 starts direct Leeds to Heraklion flights in Summer 2008.
